The fire is crackling, hot mugs of fresh local coffee are ready to be sipped, smells of homemade holiday cookies are wafting through the air, and snow is gently tapping on the windows. At a glance, the scene almost seems like something out of a story book, but it’s even better than that. This is what a Christmas in Asheville looks like at 1900 Inn on Montford.

From room to room, you’ll find sprinkles of Christmas cheer all around you. Whether you’re curled up with a blanket and a book in the sun room, or enjoying your own private fire in one of the Carriage House rooms, nothing is as cozy or as special as an Asheville Christmas at 1900 Inn on Montford.

When you sit down to eat breakfast in the main house, you’ll see our trees in the dining room adorned with breakfast ornaments. Stop in the foyer during happy hour, and you’ll see an ode to our love of music with a music note themed tree. But it’s not just the decorations that get us in the spirit. We also add in holiday flavors to our home cooked treats!

Breakfasts are infused with cranberry and pumpkin flavors, and we also bring out our favorite holiday breakfast recipes to spoil our guests. Shawnie even makes a special holiday cookie — an Austrian classic, Vanillekipferl

Whether you’re cozying up at our Asheville b&b, savoring Christmas flavors, or venturing out for fun festive activities in the city, Christmas in Asheville is something special you’ll remember for years to come.

4 Festive Must-Do’s for the Perfect Christmas in Asheville

Nothing says the holidays better than a little sparkle. Whether it’s twinkling lights, a crackling fire, tinsel, or glowing festive candles, Asheville brings all the sparkle on top of breathtaking mountain views to the holiday season with plenty of ways to get out and enjoy it. If you’re thinking of spending Christmas in Asheville this season, here are a few things to add to your itinerary.

A Biltmore Estate Christmas

As America’s largest home, a trip to the Biltmore Estate is a breathtaking experience and a site to behold any time of the year. With extensive grounds, exhibits, stables, and even a winery, there’s plenty to do for the whole family.

During the holiday season, the estate takes on new beauty and comes alive with lights and holiday decor. Christmas at Biltmore will light up the senses with fragrant wreaths, glittering garland, and thousands of ornaments sparkling from Biltmore House to Antler Village. And while it’s a dazzling scene during the day, Biltmore is even more magical at night during its beloved Candlelight Christmas Evenings, where a majestic Norway spruce and luminary pathways light the way to the front door. This event runs from the beginning of November until the beginning of January, so be sure to get your tickets in advance as this is a very popular event!

Sugar, Spice & Everything Nice

Christmas in Asheville isn’t complete without a trip to the Omni Grove Park Inn to see the incredible National Gingerbread House Competition. This nationally-known competition features all kinds of whimsical and elaborate, handmade gingerbread houses of every size, shape, and theme you can imagine. As you walk around the display, you’ll find quaint rustic cabins, gumdrop-adorned castles and sugar spun landscapes to inspire you.

During your visit, don’t forget to stop by the lobby to see its two iconic, 36-feet wide fireplaces, and grab a mug of specialty hot cocoa at The Great Gingerbread House, a life-sized Gingerbread House modeled after the historic hotel.
