Bright lights line the front of the house. Smells of hot local coffee drift from the sunroom, fireplaces warm the inn, and melt-in-your-mouth cookies are fresh out of the oven. This is the holidays at 1900 Inn on Montford – one of our favorite times of the year.
Settle into full relaxation during a mountain getaway that will leave you feeling rejuvenated and lift your spirits too.
As Asheville continues to heal from Helene, it’s a wonderful time to give back and help support local businesses and the people of our area this holiday season. We’ve had several guests who have wanted to spend some of their trip volunteering, so we thought we’d outline some ways to help.
Volunteer Opportunities for Helene Recovery
If you’re interested in spending a little time volunteering while you’re exploring Asheville, here are a few organizations we’d recommend:
All of these organizations have done an incredible job helping those in need since day one, and we highly recommend checking them out on social media too to see the work they’ve been doing and to get involved.
If volunteering isn’t an option for you, dining in at local restaurants and shopping at local shops is just as impactful! Many guests have asked us about what they should expect when coming to Asheville, and we will tell you that business owners are happy and grateful for you to come visit!
Local Businesses to Support
For shopping locally, here are a few of our favorites to visit while you’re enjoying your stay. This list includes some businesses that we personally enjoy visiting or shopping at and some vendors that we use here at the inn.
- Encompass Farms – The best place to get your fix of local veggies and flowers. Order a fresh veggies box or subscribe to enjoy a beautiful bouquet weekly! We source the local veggies for our breakfasts and the flowers for the inn from Encompass Farms.
- Oak & Grist – Grain-to-glass North Carolina craft whiskey and gin, handmade in Black Mountain from local ingredients, and distilled to inspire adventure. Grab a bottle of Genevier inspired gin or malt whiskey to make delicious cocktails at home.
- Cooperative Coffee Roasters – For the coffee lovers, you’ll want to snag a bag of Cooperative! Each bag is responsibly sourced and intentionally crafted for a delicious experience in every cup of coffee.
- Asheville Chocolate – If you’ve stayed with us before, you’ve seen these decadent chocolates in your room. Shop their delicious assortment of truffles to appease a pesky sweet tooth.
- East Fork Pottery – Some of the most beautiful pottery you can find! Shop a variety of handcrafted pottery – like mugs, plates, bowls and more – to bring a little piece of Asheville home with you.
- Poppy Popcorn – The perfect accompaniment to your holiday movie night or your go-to party snack. Shop a variety of sweet and savory popcorns that will have you coming back for more.
- In Blue Handmade – Need a new handbag? These beautiful handmade leather goods are the perfect staple to add to your wardrobe or gift to a loved one.
- Wake Foot Sanctuary – For ultimate relaxation. Treat yourself to a foot massage that will leave you feeling refreshed during your stay.
We’re Excited to Welcome You Back!
