“Gratitude looks to the past and love to the present” – C.S. Lewis
As you can imagine, this fall season has looked a bit different for us here at 1900 Inn on Montford. But as our inn and our city continue to recover from Helene, we have been struck by so many things — the spirit of community, the power of helping hands, and the love and support of our guests. As we approach this year’s Thanksgiving season, we are feeling immensely grateful, and we’d like to take a moment to share our reasons why.
Our Resilient Community
Asheville is such a special place, and we’re so fortunate to call it home. Our neighbors and vendors feel like family, and our local business owners have become dear friends.
Our community has banded together to pick each other up in ways that have been awe inspiring. We’re thankful for those who have stopped by and checked in on us and offered support during this time. While we know it may take a while for Asheville to get fully back up and running, we’re grateful for the small steps forward, the resilient spirit of our city, and all the wonderful people that call it home.
One of the reasons why we love Montford so much is our neighborhood and all the local restaurant owners we’ve been able to get to know over the years. We’ve been rooting for them during this time just as much as they’ve been rooting for us, and we’re so grateful to see some of our local favorites open back up like Mother, Nine Mile, Tall John’s, Huli Sue’s, and Luminosa. If you’ve yet to dine at any of these restaurants, we highly recommend putting them on your list to support them the next time you visit! Your stomach will thank you.
Our Caring Guests
The outpouring of love we’ve felt has been incredible, and we can’t put into words what it’s meant to us. We’ve had so many guests call just to check in on us and make sure we’re okay, and hearing your voices and the care you’ve shown has warmed our hearts immensely.
We want to say a big thank you to those who have purchased gift cards, booked rooms for future seasons, and the willingness to reschedule reservations. We’d also like to say thank you to the Powells, our repeat guests and dear friends, who have already visited us during the aftermath of Helene. To all of you who have cared for us in both big and small ways, we are forever grateful for your support.
Opening Our Doors
With smiles and full hearts, we were able to open our doors again, on October 31st. We are currently serving guests and supporting FEMA workers who are here helping with recovery.
We are so grateful to be able to serve in this way and to do what we can to support our community’s recovery. If you have any questions about how we’re operating or you just want to check in, please feel free to give us a call! We’d love to hear from you.
